Freyssinet New Zealand provides a comprehensive portfolio of specialised seismic protection products and services under the trusted ISOSISM® brand. This range delivers proven solutions for enhancing structural resilience and ensuring reliable earthquake performance across a wide range of infrastructure projects.

Seismic Protection Solutions

Our specialist engineering teams support clients throughout the seismic design process by:

  1. Assessing how the structure will behave during an earthquake
  2. Recommending the most effective protection system for the project

Combined technical expertise allows us to assist designers and asset owners in selecting practical, cost‑efficient solutions, reducing seismic risk and improving the long‑term resilience of their infrastructure.

The ISOSISM® Shock Transmission Unit (STU) provides a rigid connection between structures during sudden loads, such as earthquakes, high‑speed train braking or strong winds. Under normal conditions, it allows independent movement, but in a rapid‑impact event it locks up to create a temporary fixed point and protect the structure.

ISOSISM® dampers absorb seismic energy to reduce structural forces. They manage sudden impacts while allowing slow service movements and can be combined with isolation systems to improve overall protection.

ISOSISM® isolation devices extend the structure’s natural vibration period, significantly lowering the seismic acceleration it experiences, often by a factor of two to three. This reduction in response helps protect the structure and improve overall earthquake performance.

The ISOSISM® SFX system is a high‑performance supported mat joint engineered to manage structural movement. It achieves this by allowing its specially designed elastomeric components to flex and deform, effectively absorbing the shifts and stresses transmitted from the main structure.

We deliver complete seismic upgrade solutions, from customised design through to supply, installation, and commissioning. Our team supports retrofitting, seismic strengthening, and post‑earthquake restoration with a seamless, end‑to‑end service.
