Located in Wellington’s CBD, the Victoria University Faculty of Architecture building underwent a multi‑stage seismic strengthening programme to meet the target of 80% New Building Standard. Freyssinet NZ was engaged as the specialist subcontractor to deliver key structural strengthening components, including additional prestressing, longitudinal bar stressing, and precision flat jacking to support load transfer and enhance overall seismic resilience.

Freyssinet Scope

  • Delivered transverse strengthening across five structural grids using Freyssinet 1r15 prestressing systems
  • Installed high‑performance galvanised strands, Freyssibars, and custom‑machined steel plates to enhance structural capacity
  • Integrated deviators to optimise tendon alignment and improve seismic performance
  • Installed and stressed longitudinal Freyssibars to support overall building stability
  • Completed precision flat jacking on the front façade to enable controlled load transfer
  • Provided temporary propping and permanent flat jack installation using epoxy injection for long‑term reliability
