Built in 1903, St Mary’s Anglican Church is a classic example of Gothic Revival architecture, featuring steep gables, buttressed walls, and lancet windows. In 2023, the historic structure required a targeted seismic strengthening upgrade to improve stability while maintaining its heritage fabric. Works included extending pad foundations, reinforcing buttresses with high‑tensile bars, and creating a rigid connection within the perimeter double‑leaf brick walls. Freyssinet NZ was engaged as the specialist subcontractor to deliver a full supply‑and‑install strengthening solution.
