Golden Bay Cement, established in the 1870s and operating at its Portland site since 1917, is New Zealand’s largest cement manufacturer, producing over 850,000 tonnes annually. Several concrete silos constructed in the 1960s deteriorated over time, requiring significant remediation to restore structural integrity and ensure long‑term operational performance. Silo 2 was selected for full repair and strengthening to return it to service and extend its lifespan by a minimum of 25 years.
