36 Customhouse Quay is a multi‑storey commercial building located in the heart of Wellington’s CBD. As part of a major seismic upgrade to meet current New Zealand building standards, the structure required extensive strengthening using high‑performance tension bar systems. The works involved installing and stressing Freyssibars onto both the existing concrete structure and newly installed steel brackets and frames, ensuring the building achieved the required seismic resilience.

Freyssinet Scope

  • Supply of nearly 500 Freyssibars in various lengths, including all accessories
  • Majority of bars hot‑dip galvanised and imported directly from Randyork, South Africa
  • Installation and stressing of approximately 30 stress bars at key column locations
  • Integration of bars into both existing concrete elements and new structural steel frame
