This nine‑storey commercial building in Wellington’s CBD, originally constructed in 1988, underwent a major seismic strengthening and interior refurbishment programme to meet the target of 80% New Building Standard. The structural upgrade strategy increased the building’s stiffness by tying the structure back to the ground at Level 5, enabling seismic loads to be transferred more efficiently. Freyssinet NZ was engaged as the specialist subcontractor to deliver key strengthening components, including FRP installation, additional prestressing, and multistrand systems.
