Cable Stayed Structures

Cable Stayed Structures

Over the last five decades, the rapid development of cable stayed structures, particularly cable stayed bridges, has indicated a growing interest in this type of structure.

Modern stay cable systems use individually protected strands and anchorages derived from prestressing technology and represent the state of the art in bridge engineering. Our experience from the construction of over 400 cable stayed bridges combined with considerable investment into research and development lead us to Isotension – the Freyssinet worldwide patented stressing method.

Facilitating strand by strand erection and eliminating the need for heavy erection equipment, this technology was first created in the 1970’s and has been evolving ever since. Our stay cables are a benchmark in terms of fatigue resistance, corrosion protection, ease of inspection and ease of replacement.

Freyssinet has developed two ranges of stay cables: H2000 for large structures and H1000 for smaller structures – such as a pedestrian bridge.
