About Us

Freyssinet is a leading provider of specialist property and infrastructure post-tensioning, civil engineering, remediation and upgrades. While the company has maintained a presence within the country since 1953 through licence holders, Freyssinet as it exists today was established in 1983, with the acquisition of a fifty per cent stake holding in the then-established Austress PCS by Freyssinet International a global network based in France, coming under the full ownership of the organisation in 2006. The company’s title was changed to Freyssinet in 2009, after their merger with Soletanche Bachy and Freyssinet’s worldwide launch of a new business image and logo. Even at the time when Freyssinet’s Australian interests were entirely managed through their licensee, the company has consistently sustained a deep involvement with the country’s market. In the late 1950’s, company owner and creator Eugene Freyssinet was invited as a consultant in the construction of the Gladesville Bridge in Sydney, at that time the largest concrete arch bridge in the world, for which Freyssinet supplied the bridge joints and flat jacks. Today, Freyssinet maintains a strong national presence with offices in New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, Western Australia and New Zealand.

PRISMprism logo

Policy for sustainable development at Freyssinet is guided by the conviction that its values and skills can contribute to meet the economic, environmental and social challenges required by its clients and, more generally, that the company sees these challenges as an opportunity to expand.

This policy focuses on three major objectives: mastering the risk and impact of activities in fields such as quality, hygiene, security, the environment and social (QhSES); establishing values for the clients and anticipating their needs; reinforcing the societal and civil commitment. In order to achieve and evaluate the progression of this policy, the company has integrated specific indicators and a project plan for 2011-2013.

The company’s decision to develop its own environmental evaluation tool for its construction projects has been pushed by the client’s growing demand for a “quantified” environmental impact in the commercial offers.

The PRISM tool enables us to establish, in parallel to the price study, a quantified environmental impact for projects at the call for tenders’ stage as well as later during the progress stage. The tool is specifically designed for the calculation of the project’s impact on the environment and allows comparing a trivial solution to a more advanced variant proposed by the company. This comparison highlights the environmental added value, innovative methods offer as opposed to more classic ones.
